Start your review of Someone New Someone, 1. Feb 20, Antonia rated it really liked it. I actually liked this a lot! The thing I usually dislike the most about this genre is the Www someonenew com and the lack of diversity. Talking about Julien, he was such a sweetheart. Apart fr I actually liked this a lot! Feb 07, Sarah Dorothea rated it it was amazing Shelves: all-time-favourite-books. Laura Kneidl came up with an interesting plot twist through which the book sets itself apart from the usual new adult novels. From the beginning on I was fascinated by Micah and Julian - they have such great personalities and each of them has an interesting story to tell.
The book talks about a very important issue that has not been addressed in a lot of books Www someonenew com not in new adult books - the way Julian's transgender experience is described is so fascinating and the afterword Www someonenew com Thorben Rump talks about the topic of transgender is very moving.
Es ist ein Prozess, mit dem du jederzeit anfangen kannst. I give this book THE most 5, out of 5, stars ever cause it captured not only my reader heart, but made me scream, fangirl, fall in love, made me sad and angry and happy and so damn humble for the human species. The beginning wasn't the most important part, but after getting past it my expectation of what this book was about was exceeded by miles. I really am so glad that someone wrote this story, because the message was an important one and I feel blessed to have read this.
Micah and Julian are phenomenal characters and such loving people who deserve nothing but the best, and even if life didn't give them the most gracious of parents Www someonenew com still have such big and open hearts towards their friends and self-chosen family, it's really beautiful.
I fell in love with all of them, Cassie and Auri, Aliza and Lilly, Link and Tanner, even Adrian and Keith even though we didn't see a lot of them and lastly Laurence, may cats forever rule the world! This book is not just a story, but a passion, a lifestyle and a beacon of hope. I absolutely loved it!
Jul 26, Marie rated it liked it. I really enjoyed this book! Its about a rich girl who didn't like to be what her rich parents expected from her! And then Micah met Julian He likes boys but their parents didn't like gay people, so he left the house and Micah is still missing him Www someonenew com day and didn't know where he went! It was really fun to read every chapter and I can really recommend that book!
Jun 25, Sara rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. I read this book again and again and again and I like it very much and I will certainly read it more often. The story is great. It takes the main character quite long to understand what is really going on, but she is Www someonenew com of sweet, innocent, and someone you have to like.
There is quite a of interesting side characters who are all Www someonenew com and you want to know more about their fates, too. Some of them are looked at in further books of the series. The book was eye-opening and encouraged I read this book again and again and again and The book was eye-opening and encouraged me to engage in my own research on the main topic, something I never bothered with before I read the book.
I wanted to know how this is handled in my home country and what can be done. I am no longer blind to this and I am very grateful for that. I can only hope that many, many people read it and question their own bias and maybe even microaggressions to ensure that they do not hurt anyone by a missing awareness. It would be a great lecture for any young adult. Mar 20, Luzie rated it liked it. I have mixed feelings about this book. I appreciate the diversity but I don't appreciate the way characters that are part of a minority are handled. I really hope Julian being trans was not supposed to be a plot twist a because someone's identity should not be just as a shock factor and b because it was soooo obvious.
Which brings me to my main issue: the main character is absolutely priviledged and dumb. She literally plays devil's advocate when her parents kick out her brother for being gay I have mixed feelings about this book. She literally plays devil's advocate when her parents kick out her brother for being gay but is Www someonenew com he didn't tell? As if her behaviour didn't prove him right? Which is also why can understand that Julian took his time to tell her he's trans.
But it would have been so easy for her to guess that especially after she walked in on him changing and saw his OP scars she literally saw both his mastectomy and his Www someonenew com scars. I almost wish that would have been the main conflict because it hopefully would have been seen as a mistake on her sight to barge in on him like that.
We actually could have seen her having something like regret. I feel like that would have made more sense than Julian's ex randomly showing up and saying "he isn't who he says". I mean I understand why that happened, because in the end it served as explanation to why her was so closed off but he was literally disowned by his parents, he didn't need to be abandoned and traumatised twice.
Especially when the worst thing to happen to Micah was having to cut this with her shitty parents. Mar 05, Sherry rated it it was amazing. I fell in love with Julian - not only because I was in love with someone who felt like him in real life. But because he was really nice written. Would recommend! Apr 06, Nat rated it did not like it. Nah, my friend, this ain't it. I really wanted to like it, and Www someonenew com first chapter wasn't so bad at all, but Micah is annoying is hell, the love story starts immediately way too fast, like waaayyy too fast and the constant nerdy fandomy things were over the top.
Felt like a bad fanfic. Case closed. Mar 15, MariewithWings rated it really liked it. An amazing book with so many social critical, but so important topics! I highly recommend reading it. Two chapters broke my heart so badly and the worst thing is that there are actual People who think like this. So it is even more important that so many people read it! Feb 05, marcysbuecherecke rated it it was amazing. Jun 30, Kasia Celebanska rated it it was amazing.
Nov 16, Nathi rated it really liked it Shelves: new-adultcontemporarygerman-authorgerman-read, lgbtqalibrary-booksfeministromance. Laura Kneidl's New Adult novels do not disappoint. I Www someonenew com liked Someone New! I went into it with high expectations, with it being as hyped in the german-speaking book community as it is, and was not disappointed.
Micah is a surprisingly refreshing character: she is an extrovert, which is not very common among the New Adult protagonists, and a huge nerd - I can relate. As a very introverted person who is scared of people, seeing her interact with total strangers was hilarious to me to read. I c Laura Kneidl's New Adult novels do not disappoint. I could never.Www someonenew com
